Employer Account Data

When creating an employer account, we collect: company name, email, phone number, city, state, ZIP code, website, and company logo. This information is used to display your company profile alongside job listings.

Job Application Data

When a job seeker applies for a position through About-Trash.com, their application details (name, email, phone, city, state, CDL status, message) are forwarded directly to the employer via email. We store only a minimal record consisting of a timestamp, job ID, and confirmation token. We do not store Social Security numbers, dates of birth, race, gender, national origin, disability status, immigration status, or background check results at any time.

Job Alert Data

When signing up for job alerts, we collect: first name, email, phone (optional), notification preferences (Email, SMS, or Both), job type preferences, and up to three geographic search areas with radius preferences.

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service. Usage Data may include information such as Your Device’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that You visit, the time and date of Your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data.

Tracking Technologies and Cookies

We use Cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on Our Service and store certain information.

  • Essential Cookies: Used for authentication and session management. Required for the Service to function properly.

SMS Program Overview

About Trash offers text messaging services to provide job seekers with new job alert notifications matching their preferences and geographic areas.

Consent to Receive Text Messages

By providing your mobile phone number, selecting “SMS” or “Both” as your notification preference, and checking the SMS consent checkbox on the job alerts signup form, you expressly consent to receive recurring automated job alert text messages from us at the phone number provided. Consent is not a condition of use of any services.

SMS Data Collection and Use

When you opt in to our SMS program, we collect:

  • Your mobile phone number
  • Your first name
  • Your job type preferences
  • Your geographic search areas

We use this information solely for the purpose of sending you text messages about new job listings matching your alert preferences.

Message Frequency and Costs

Message frequency varies depending on how many matching jobs are posted in your selected areas. Each job listing triggers a maximum of 2 alert messages per subscriber. Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details about your messaging plan.

Time Restrictions

Messages will only be sent between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM in your local time zone, in compliance with federal regulations.

How to Opt Out of SMS Messages

You can opt out of receiving text messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP to any text message from us
  • Clicking the unsubscribe link in any alert email
  • Visiting about-trash.com/jobs/alerts/unsubscribe with your unsubscribe token
  • Emailing us at nate@trashjoes.com

After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message. You may continue to receive messages for a short period while we process your request.

How to Opt Back In

If you have opted out and wish to opt back in, reply START or UNSTOP to any previous message, or sign up again at about-trash.com/jobs/alerts.

SMS Supported Carriers

Our SMS service is available on all major U.S. carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and other participating carriers. Service may not be available on all carriers.

SMS Message Delivery and Liability

About Trash is not responsible for delays, failures in delivery, or any other issues related to the transmission or receipt of text messages. Message delivery is subject to effective transmission by your mobile carrier and is not guaranteed. By subscribing to our SMS services, you acknowledge that About Trash will not be liable for any damages, losses, or injuries arising from the use of or failure to receive text messages.

Use of Your Personal Data

The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain our Service, including to display job listings, forward applications, and send job alert notifications.
  • To manage Your Account: to manage Your registration as an employer on the Service.
  • Application forwarding: To send applicant information directly to the employer who posted the listing.
  • Job alerts: To notify job seekers via email and/or SMS when matching jobs are posted in their selected areas.
  • Job distribution: To distribute job listings via social media platforms and search engines (Google Jobs).
  • To contact You: To contact You by email, SMS, or other forms of electronic communication regarding service updates.
  • To manage Your requests: To attend and manage Your requests to Us.
  • For platform improvement: To understand how our Service is being used and to improve it.

Sharing of Your Personal Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

Critical Privacy Protection for SMS Data: No mobile phone number information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We may share Your personal information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Application forwarding: Job application details are forwarded to the employer who posted the listing.
  • With Service Providers: We may share Your personal information with Service Providers to send emails (Postmark), send SMS messages (AWS SNS), distribute job listings to social media (Zapier), host our platform (Vercel), and manage our database (Supabase). These service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the purposes of providing services to us.
  • For business transfers: We may share or transfer Your personal information in connection with any merger, sale of Company assets, financing, or acquisition.
  • With Affiliates: We may share Your information with Our affiliates, in which case we will require those affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy.
  • As required by law: We may disclose your information where we are legally required to do so.

Retention of Your Personal Data

The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Employer account data is retained for the life of the account. Job application records (minimal data only) are retained for the duration of the job listing. Job alert subscriptions are retained until the subscriber opts out. We will retain and use Your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

Your Rights

  • Unsubscribe: Job alert subscribers can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any alert email, replying STOP to any SMS, or visiting the unsubscribe page.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your data by emailing nate@trashjoes.com.
  • Access: You may request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Employer account holders can update their information at any time via the dashboard.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect, (b) request deletion of your personal information, (c) opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and (d) not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Security of Your Personal Data

The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, secure authentication via Supabase Auth, and environment variable storage for sensitive credentials. However, remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure.

Children’s Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13.
